I am a self-taught artist and entrepreneur. For me, one cannot exist without the other. Before devoting myself 100% to art, I worked for many years in fashion. Then, 15 years ago, I wanted to create something of my own and… emptied my bag! I poured everything within me into my creations. Self-portraits in a way, but also a reflection of our society.
My inspirations include the School of Nice, the New Realists movement co-founded by Yves Klein, but also the 1980’s in which I grew up. Artists like the sculptor César deeply influenced my creative process, his “Compressions” in particular.
It took several years of experimentation. I began by compressing clothes, then ran trials with cold resin, aiming to make bricks. That was before discovering polymerization. The form of a bag, henceforth my signature, gradually took over. And I filled it with all my addictions.
I see myself as a portraitist and really enjoy producing their portraits through their personal belongings. Among others, I have worked with Monaco driver Charles Leclerc and French MotoGP biker Fabio Quartararo. This year, they have both entrusted me with creating their helmets, respectively for the Singapore and Barcelona Grand Prix. A real honour!
